Advantech and Taipei Blood Center Collaborate to Create a New Benchmark for Digital Services

14/08/2025

Advantech, a global leader in intelligent IoT systems, has upheld its ESG sustainability philosophy and harnessed the power of technology for good, supporting the “Neihu Thousand-Person Blood Donation” for 13 consecutive years, with the 13th edition grandly launched on August 13. Today, Eric Chen, President of General Management, and MC Chiang, Vice President of the Intelligent Service Sector, led a company-wide call to action, reinforcing Advantech’s long-standing commitment to public welfare. This year, Advantech further partnered with the Taipei Blood Center to introduce diverse AIoT technologies for a digital management mechanism, including a self-service ticketing and queuing system, digital signage management, cold chain management, industrial tablets, and an intelligent energy management system. These solutions have successfully optimized the entire process—from donor registration to backend blood bag cold chain management—greatly improving operational efficiency while providing donors with a safer and more convenient experience. On Advantech’s Neihu Blood Donation Day, the “ Tucheng Central Rotary Bloodmobile” a large electric blood donation vehicle, was also brought on site, offering employees a comfortable and modern donation environment.

Integrating Technology into Life to Fulfill ESG Corporate Social Responsibility

Advantech's President of General Management, Eric Chen, stated, "Advantech has long been dedicated to promoting intelligent city services and healthcare, viewing these as crucial missions for fulfilling our ESG social responsibilities. We firmly believe that technology should be integrated into people's daily lives to enhance the efficiency of public services and improve human-centered experiences. This collaboration with the Taipei Blood Center is an excellent example of applying IoT technology and our digital transformation expertise to the public health system. Moving forward, Advantech will continue to partner with the industry to accelerate the adoption of intelligent healthcare, promote the widespread availability of digital services, and create a convenient and safe smart life for the public, all while contributing to a sustainable society."

AIoT Solutions Fully Optimize Blood Donation Processes and Management

Advantech Vice President of the Intelligent Service Sector, MC Chiang, further explained, “This collaboration with the Taipei Blood Center focuses on three main sites: the Tucheng Central Rotary Bloodmobile, the Nanhai Blood Donation Room, and the Ai-Hsin Building at the center. Through multiple AIoT solutions—including self-service ticketing and queuing, cloud-based public broadcasting management, cold chain management, industrial tablets, and intelligent energy management—Taipei Blood Center has significantly improved service efficiency at donation sites, optimized donor experiences, precisely controlled blood bag storage and transport conditions, and effectively implemented energy conservation and carbon reduction. This improvement sets a new benchmark for digital transformation in public services and brings technology closer to where it is truly needed.” Advantech’s AIoT Solutions Implemented at Taipei Blood Center Include:

  1. Self-Service Ticketing / Queuing System : Deployed UTC and UTK self-service kiosks on the Tucheng Central Rotary Bloodmobile and at the Nanhai Blood Donation Room, streamlining the donation process, enhancing the donor experience, and providing real-time donor statistics for improved operational records and future optimization.
  2. Digital Signage Management : Leverages the UBX system’s remote capabilities for signage content editing and distribution, significantly reducing labor costs while enabling more efficient and flexible information delivery.
  3. Cold Chain Management Solution : Applied at the Ai-Hsin Building’s blood distribution area. LEO temperature and humidity sensors ensure 24/7 precise cold chain conditions, safeguarding blood quality and safety.
  4. Industrial-Grade Tablets : AIM industrial tablets run the queuing management program, allowing medical staff to call donors efficiently without repeatedly moving between the vehicle interior and exterior. When not in use for queuing, the tablets support off-site staff with real-time blood inventory checks.
  5. Intelligent Energy Management Solution : Solar panels installed on the rooftop of the Taipei Blood Center building. The iEMS intelligent energy management system visualizes solar power generation, carbon reduction data, and energy consumption by floor, enabling clear monitoring of energy usage and achieving carbon reduction targets effectively.
