Advantech Launches DS-540 Compact Fanless Computer for Digital Signage and Interactive Display Applications

(TWSE: 2395), a global leader in IoT intelligent systems and embedded platforms, announces the launch of DS-540, a fanless computer designed for digital signage and interactive display applications. Powered by the Intel® Processor N150, DS-540 combines triple-display support, extensive peripheral connectivity, and a slim 35 mm chassis to simplify deployment across retail signage, self-service kiosks, digital menu boards, and Kitchen Display Systems (KDS).

Efficient Computing and Triple-Display Support for Connected Restaurant Workflows

Powered by the Intel® Processor N150 with a 6W processor TDP, DS-540 integrates Intel® UHD Graphics and supports up to 16GB of DDR5-4800 memory to handle restaurant display and operational applications. Its HDMI, USB Type-C, and VGA outputs support three displays, providing flexibility for both new installations and integration with existing display infrastructure. 

 From presenting kitchen orders and preparation status to displaying menus and pickup information, DS-540 enables system integrators to address multiple restaurant applications with a common computing platform. This flexibility helps simplify hardware selection across kitchen, customer-facing, and back-of-house deployments.

Slim, Fanless Design Simplifies Installation and Maintenance

Measuring 180 × 150 × 35 mm, DS-540 is designed for installation behind displays and in other space-constrained locations. Eight VESA through-holes support direct mounting with 75 × 75 mm and 100 × 100 mm patterns, while black and silver enclosure options accommodate different installation requirements. The fanless architecture supports quiet operation and eliminates cooling-fan maintenance. An IP40-rated enclosure, flexible 12–24V DC input, and an operating temperature range of 0–60°C with 0.7 m/s airflow support indoor kitchen and back-of-house deployments. A remote switch interface also allows convenient power control when the computer is installed behind a monitor or within an enclosure.

Versatile Connectivity and OS Support Streamline System Integration

DS-540 provides one 2.5GbE LAN port, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, and two RS-232 ports for connecting restaurant networks and compatible peripherals, including touch interfaces, barcode scanners, and receipt printers. An M.2 2242 M-Key slot supports SATA or PCIe storage, while an M.2 2230 E-Key slot accommodates optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. 

Supporting Windows 11 IoT LTSC and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, DS-540 gives developers and system integrators flexibility to deploy their preferred KDS, kiosk, and digital signage software. By combining efficient computing, multiple display interfaces, and a compact installation design, DS-540 helps customers build connected restaurant display solutions that support clearer order visibility and coordinated daily operations.
