Advantech Launches “EBC-RC04” Edge Computer for AMR Control with 3D Sensing System Support

Japan, August 2025 – Advantech Japan Co., Ltd., a leading provider of embedded IoT computing solutions, is pleased to introduce the EBC-RC04 an edge computer designed for autonomous mobile robot (AMR) control. Supporting advanced 3D sensing technologies, this system enables rapid development and delivers high-precision distance measurement for autonomous navigation.

With growing demand for robotics across industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and retail—driven by the need to enhance productivity and address labor shortages—Advantech remains committed to developing edge computing platforms tailored for autonomous systems and robotics.

In collaboration with Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation (hereinafter “SSS”) and Sunny Optical Intelligence Technology (hereinafter “Sunny OIT”), Advantech has co-developed the “Multi dToF/RGB LiDAR System”, a high-performance, easy-to-integrate 3D sensing solution that supports a full range of AMR operations, from object detection to autonomous navigation.

The EBC-RC04 processes sensing data from ‘HYT001-EX’ in real time to support autonomous AMR navigation. It is equipped with a dedicated interface for the ‘HYT001-EX’, enabling seamless integration and optimizing the camera’s performance in AMR applications.

Traditional AMR 3D sensing systems have typically relied on stereo cameras or 2D LiDAR, which present limitations such as reduced distance accuracy, blind spots, and poor recognition in complex environments. By adopting the direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) method with the ‘HYT001-EX’, this new system delivers wide-area and high-precision distance measurement, along with stable environmental recognition—even under challenging conditions.

The “Multi dToF/RGB LiDAR System” will be installed in the new AMR model “SmooV,” developed by Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd., and is scheduled for commercial deployment by Logisteed Solutions Co., Ltd. Additionally, a live demonstration of the “Multi dToF/RGB LiDAR System” and “SmooV” will be showcased at the International Logistics Exhibition held at Tokyo Big Sight from September 10, 2025, at the SSS booth.
